What are your fees? How long will you take to edit?
Each project is unique (though I do offer some picture book–specific packages). Once I have received some sample material from you and you have completed a short questionnaire, I’ll be able to provide you with a quote and a timeline. If we agree to proceed, we will do so according to a formal agreement/ statement of work.
What editing standards do you follow?
I follow the professional editing standards set by Editors Canada, of which I am a member. Because editors are only human, we cannot guarantee perfection, but I can assure you that I will strive to edit your project to the highest standards.
What formats do you edit?
I work in Word (PC or Mac), using Track Changes.
What sorts of editing do you specialise in?
I specialise in literary, children’s, progressive Christian, and speculative fiction (science fiction and fantasy). Please note that I don’t work with military SF, political fiction, horror, or erotica.
Do you edit any material besides fiction?
I do work with narrative non-fiction, especially for children.
What do you like to read?
I spent many years reading and studying classic literature and loved it, but my “genre kryptonite” (the genre I can’t resist) is science fiction, especially if dealing with distant futures, far-flung space, and alien encounters. I also love to read about astrophysics and the intersection of faith and science. I continue to enjoy middle grade and YA fiction (especially if it’s SFF 🙂 ), and I adore beautifully illustrated picture books.
